Our continued growth relies heavily on the passage of the proposed “Adaptive Reuse Overlay District” (AROD) at Spring Town Meeting on May 9, 2022. This zoning article is being proposed to help under-utilized municipal and religious properties find new life in uses not originally intended for the property.

In our case, we are just over two years in to our mission of rehabilitating and revitalizing the former Peter Fitzpatrick School into a vibrant community center for all ages.

With the passage of the AROD article, we will be able to offer additional programs and services including:

  • maker space
  • commercial kitchen
  • art studio (physical media, photography, etc.)
  • shared office space
  • professional offices

These additional uses are critical to supplementing our community-centric uses including our continued funding of the Big Backyard playground, maintenance and improvements to the property, and supporting our local youth organizations who meet at our facility.

This article requires a two-thirds (2/3) vote to pass and we need everyone to show up, voice your support, and vote in favor of this article. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at info@thefitz.org so we can work to understand and address your concerns!
